We’ve talked about York River State Park before – it’s the perfect way to interact with nature if you appreciate a good canoeing session or wild animal sighting. On July 8, join the park’s ranger-guided hike through its gorgeous estuaries and learn all about the Osprey’s fascinating role in the local ecosystem. The stats of this majestic bird of prey are sure to impress you, and you’ll have a chance to witness first-hand how it feeds, nests and soars.

Fossil Frenzy Hike
July – September, 4 – 6 p.m.

The Historic Triangle is even more historic than you thought! Long before colonists set foot in Williamsburg, hundreds of marine creatures lived and died here, leaving behind their fossils for us to discover 6,000 years later. Discover traces of whales, porpoises, sharks, scallops, clams and snails at York River Sate Park on a two-mile hike to a fossil beach! Bring deep pockets, because if you find a fossil on the hike, it’s yours to keep and bring home! This hike is free, but be sure to call ahead to reserve your spot!

Busting Myths
Tuesdays through July 25, 5 – 5:45 p.m.
The Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg is home to multiple gallery spaces with fascinating exhibits under one roof, including the Hennage Auditorium. In your regular admission, the Hennage Auditorium hosts “Busting Myths”—a special 45-minute tour that exposes the unusual facts and debunks the myths of the 18th century.

Photography Exhibit at the Gallery at York Hall
